The Reception Dinner
You are all warmly invited to a Chi-TEK welcome dinner, on Friday 23rd September, 8pm – 10pm. The dinner will be in the dome room at the crafty tea rooms, Drink, Shop & Do near Kings Cross. Dinner will be provided by MzTEK for Chi-TEK artists and special invited guests from the V&A and SPACE.
Tea Party
Please come to the V&A’s John Madejski garden for 10:30am sharp, unless we have asked you to arrive at 9.30.
The exhibit is open to the public from 11am – 4.30pm as a drop-in event both days.
All of the artist teapots will be on display in full working order. As one of our contributing artists we would love you to come and be able to present your teapot to the public over the weekend.
Artists are required to be around for the day to chat to the public and demonstrate their projects. We will also have a schedule of events including an intro to Chi-TEK, artists intro’s, and prize draw, which we will publish at least one week before the event.
The public will be given tea and cake by the V&A to enjoy in the Chi-TEK tea party.
Summery:
10.30 – Arrive
11.00 – Open
4.30 – Close
5.30 – Swift half (optional)
Showcase
The teapots go on display at the V&A Sackler Centre Art Room, and will be displayed in a glass cabinet. Unfortunately it is not possible to have the tea pots in working order in the cabinet. We will be focusing publicity towards the tea party weekend.
The showcase opens on 7th September through November 2011, and will coincide with the Digital festival and Crafts Council’s Makers fair.
Dates to Remember:
23rd September: Evening reception dinner from 8.00 – 10pm, at Drink, Shop and Do.
24 & 25 September: CHI-TEK Tea Party in the gardens of the Victoria & Albert Museum
22bd October: Chi-TEK FEST, Workshop day delivered by some Chi-TEK Artists.
Video, photographs, blogs and things
Now you have hacked / reconfigure / modify your teapot and documented your process. Please let us have your footage, photographs, videos, and/or diagrams to illustrate your process. We will be running a short, 3min video of all the tea pots working on a video screen in the cabinet with your tea pots. We would also like to keep as much documentation about the project as possible, to make some short films. If you have a mo, we would love a blog post for our website describing your process and interest in the Chi-TEK project.
After Chi-TEK
